Diploma of Basic Theology
Upon successful completion of the coursework and the internship, the student will receive the Diploma of Basic Theology.

Students who complete the course-work and the internship will receive the Diploma of Basic Theology. With this diploma the student (or the student’s congregation) may petition the President of an LCMS district to be appointed as a Deaconess or Licensed Deacon. LHMI will work with the Districts and Concordia Seminary to facilitate the placement of students in Hispanic Ministries. In addition to this academic requirement, each district also has its own particular requirements with regard to the student’s moral character and abilities, the procedure for approval by the district president, etc. When the student begins his or her internship, the Director of the Missionary Institute will inform the student regarding the requirements at the place where he or she will be serving.
The Diploma of Basic Theology satisfies the requirements of the first level of study at the Center for Hispanic Studies (CHS) at Concordia Seminary. LHMI graduates may enroll in CHS for the second level which leads to certification as LCMS rostered ministers.
