Online Studies (Click Here to view this page in Spanish)
Many students are unable to come to El Paso, Texas, to study. They can participate in classes over the internet. Each internet student can see the professor and the other students in real time on the computer screen. Each student can ask questions and make comments. He or she can see any and all visual aids that the professor puts on the screen. A computer, a broadband internet connection, and a webcam with microphone are required.
Here are the steps for connecting to a class meeting via the internet:
- A good computer is needed (that is, one that doesn’t often generate errors).
- A high speed internet connection is needed. The best method for connecting your computer to the internet is by using an Ethernet cable to connect to a broadband service. Wireless connections can also work, but aren’t as reliable or as clear as connections using a cable. (Video uses a lot of bandwidth.)
- A webcam is needed. (Headphones can also be used if desired. With headphones, the sound tends to be better. However, some people feel uncomfortable wearing headphones for long periods of time. The computer’s speakers usually are sufficient.)
- As classtime approaches, first you should connect your webcam. Do so before opening your browser.
- After connecting the webcam, connect to the internet and navigate to the following webpage: https://ct.megameeting.com. Note well: you need to type “https”, not “http.”
- The webpage will ask if you are a “guest” or a “host.” Click “guest.”
- The webpage will ask which meeting you’d like to attend. Type ____________ (the name of the meeting will depend on the particular course) in the box and click “OK.”
- If you have difficulty, please contact the Director of the Missionary Institute: 915-238-3278.
